The Oak Park Area Arts Council Presents
Presents an Exhibit of Etchings at Oak Park Village Hall
The Oak Park Area Arts Council is proud to present an exhibit of etchings by Nicolás de Jesus during the months of July and August 2010 at Oak Park Village Hall, 123 Madison Street, Oak Park, IL.
Nicolás is a printmaking artist and a member of Expressions Graphics, a printmaking co-op located at 29 Harrison Street in Oak Park.
The etchings in Nicolás’ exhibit depict El Dia de los Muertos (the Day of the Dead), a Mexican celebration to celebrate, remember and prepare special foods in honor of relatives who have departed. In order to celebrate, the families make altars and place offerings of food such as breads baked in shapes of skulls and figures, candles, incense, yellow marigolds and most importantly a photo of the departed soul.
All of the exhibited etchings are printed on hand-made paper.
For more information about the exhibit, please call the Oak Park Area Arts Council at
