Solicitation to Oak Park Area artists for submission of artwork for “The Mark Twain Big Read” Art Exhibit in the Oak Park Public Library Gallery in October 2010.
Deadline for entry – Friday, Aug. 13, 2010 at 5 p.m.
A variety of artwork, including a select number of three-dimensional pieces, is sought. Artists who live in the tri-village area covered by the Oak Park Area Arts Council (Oak Park, River Forest, and Forest Park) are invited to submit one piece of artwork which addresses the theme “The Many Sides of Mark Twain.” If you do not have finished artwork, please describe your art and how it relates to Mark Twain. Artists who belong to the Oak Park Art League or the Oak Park Area Arts Council and do not live in one of the three communities are also eligible to participate.
All work submitted shall be:
- Appropriate for display in a public library environment
- All photographs/artwork must be framed. Appropriate size parameters:
Minimum size is 8 inches by 10 inches (unframed).
Maximum image size is 4 feet by 4 feet (unframed) – please advise if your planned work is larger than this size.
Please insert your slide or photo in a clear plastic sheet. Each slide or photo must be labeled with the following information.
Your Name, plus: Title of the piece, Medium (e. g. oils, watercolors, pencil, etc.) and Dimensions unframed (height x width).

Artists will be notified of acceptance by Friday, Aug. 20, 2010. All final framed artwork must be submitted to the library by Friday, Sept. 24, at 5 p.m. The show will open Saturday, Oct. 2, with a reception for the artists on Sunday, Oct. 3, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Library Gallery.

- Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at 5 p.m.: Artwork due to Oak Park Public Library
- Friday, Oct. 2, through Oct. 30, 2009: Exhibit open in Library Gallery
- Sunday, Oct. 3, 2009, from 3 to 5 p.m.: Reception for artists in Gallery
Entry rules and instructions:
No entry fee is required. Please submit one piece of work which addresses the theme, “Mark Twain,” along with a resume and entry form. Include a self-addressed, stamped envelope for return of slides or photos.
